Most striking of these new ships is the TIE Defender, an over the top TIE design that appears to be a bit over the top in stats as well as looks. There’s also a cheap and cheerful fighter for the Rebels in the form of the Z-95, the precursor to the X-Wing, as well as the E-Wing which acts as a half way house between X-Wing and A-Wing. Last but not least is the TIE Phantom which promises to mix things up a bit with a cloaking device.
With Fantasy Flight Games having to move further away from the iconic spacecraft from the original trilogy where can they go after this? I’ll admit that I’m not overly familiar with Star Wars outside of the films so I’m not sure where they can go but it looks like we’ll be staying within the two factions. Is there scope to increase the number of factions in the game? Will Fantasy Flight Games look at ships from the prequels?
Wave 4 ships will be available in the second quarter of 2014.
