News Collider - Spiel des Jahres Nominations, Papillion back to Kickstarter, Daryl Andrews Fired, The One Ring RPG Baldur's Gate Descent into Avernus and Elder Scrolls Call to Arms wargame
Shiny awards, treasures and dragons galore in this week’s News Collider.  We’ve seen a veritable spurge of reveals over the last week concerning the upcoming D&D campaign, th eLord of the Rings One Ring RPG and then one of my all time favorite video games comes to the table top with awesome miniatures.

There’s also more news on the (not at all connected) Kickstarter suspensions which sees the return of butterflies and the fall of a leader.

Daryl Andrews let go by Maple Games

News Collider Daryl Andrews Fired From Maple Games

Maple Games, founded in 2018 by Daryl Andrews and Peter Wocken, has dismissed the now former president in a surprise announcement made by Andrews on Facebook last week.

Maple Games, you may remember recently had their game, Folding Space on Kickstarter suspended at around the same time that Kolossal Games had their games, Papillon and Hunt the Ravager, suspended.

On a slight side note the company that finances Kolossal Games also finances Maple Games and Matagot…#justsayin

Papillon Coming Back to Kickstarter

News Collider Kolossal Games Papillion Back to Kickstarter

In completely unrelated news, Kolossal Games announced last week that Papillion will be returning to the crowdfunding platform.

After a sit down chat with the good folks at Kickstarter, Kolossal were able to iron out all of the kinks and worries that had put a stop to two of their campaigns (or is that three?).  Neither side have gone into any further detail about the specifics of why the campaigns were suspended but Kolossal have put out a statement detailing where each game is in its manufacturing journey.

There’s no date yet given for when hopeful backers will see Hunt the Ravager return to Kickstarter and I would expect a slightly slower rate of output from this publisher, via Kickstarter at least.

The One Ring RPG Second Edition

News Collider Cubicle 7 One Ring lord of the Ring RPG

Cubicle 7 have announced a second edition of their Middle Earth RPG adventure.  The first of which was released in 2011 and followed Bilbo's journey to The Misty Mountain.  This second edition is set 25 years later and is all about Frodo's quest to destroy the One Ring.

Set for release towards the end of 2019/beginning of 2020, the Lord of the Rings roleplaying game, The One Ring, will start with a 352-page Core Book featuring new maps and art.  There will also be the Fell Foes bestiary and a Minas Tirith settings book, along with an adventure; The Errantries of the King, set in Gondor and, possibly most exciting, Moria – The Long Dark.

D&D Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus

News Collider Dungeon and Dragons Descent into Avernus

At last weeks epic D&D Live: The Descent, the big reveal of the show included the next adventure module, this one set in the famous Baldur's Gate.  The adventure will take players from levels 1 to 13 as they attempt to overpower a great evil and overcome temptation of Devil's Deals; bargains that promise great power, but at a cost.

Another announcement was the D&D Essentials Kit.  Much like the starter set this includes everything you'll need to get started in playing and DMing with dice, premade characters, a streamlined rule book and a new adventure, "Dragon of Icespire Peak".

Then there was the whole D&D Vs Rick and Morty thing...which looks like a thing that is happening...wub a lubba dub dub!

Elder Scrolls Call To Arms Tabletop Wargame

News Collider Bethesda Modiphius Skyrim Elder Scrolls Tabletop Board Game

After the success of Fallout: Wasteland Warfare Modiphius have once again partnered with Bethesda to bring the world of Tamriel to the tabletop.  The core mechanics of the Fallout miniatures game has been built upon to cover all the goings-on needed to bring down dragons including Stamina, Magicka and the all important Shouts.  The game, Call to Arms features some fantastically detail 32mm miniatures can be played as a Player Vs Player, co-op or even solo against an “advanced AI system”.

Adventures will include dungeon delves into inside Dwemer Ruins or Draugr-infested Nord Tombs, and the game will also include some of the cast of the video games.

I’ll be catching up with the team from Modiphius at the UK Games Expo where I’ll be learning all sorts of extra information, such as “Is it possible to shoot someone in the knee?”
